Which sytem should I get my son from Christmas?

I don't know shit when it comes to this stuff.

He's been using my old old ps2 for a couple of years now, he's 9, but I want to surprise him on Christmas with one of the new systems. So what should I get, PS3, Xbox or Wii ?

I say 360.

my roommate and I have all 3 and the 360 gets the most use.

Games are quality. Xbox Live is pretty incredible (young kids are going to scream no matter what system it's on) and with Netflix etc.. you can't go wrong.

Unless of course, you really, really need Blu-Ray

I chose the XBox because it'd be my pick, owning two of the consoles and having access to the third whenever I want.

But, shouldn't you try to get your kid's opinion on the matter? I'd be cautious about getting the Wii though because in 6 months they all seem to be shoved to the back to make room for a 360 or PS3...

Try to indirectly ask your son which one he would prefer. I'd say you can't go wrong with either PS3 or 360. Forget about the Wii.

Maybe another good question for the OP would be, "What sort of games does your son play on the PS2?" I know the knee-jerk reaction is to say 360/PS3, but the kid's 9 years old - a Wii shouldn't be out of the question.

I imagine a 9 year old to be into crappy kid's movie-licensed games. For those kinds of multiplatform titles, go with the 360. Or Wii, I dunno.

I prefer the PS3 but it's not for everybody.

I'd go Xbox 360, but make sure you don't buy him a mic until he is at least 20.
