Diabetes anyone?

So i went inpatient all last week for a bacterial infection in my lymph nodes; left ear and salivary gland. they did a bunch of blood work and it turns out I am now also diabetic.

anyone else? have any tips or suggestions on an easy to follow diet to try and keep this ridiculous shit in check. i'm so fucking depressed about it. i hated being the fat guy, but at least i was a "healthy" fatty with no ailments other than a swole gut. now i feel like a fucktard.

My advice, change your lifestyle and get it in control.

My dad has diabetes which led to: 3 heart attacks, pancreatic cancer, and his eyesight going into the toilet.

My old boss has it and had bleeding from his kidneys and other problems.

They aren't fucking around when they call it the 'silent killer'.

If you are type 2, then clean your diet and lifestyle up. Get up and work out, get your weight to its ideal, cut out so many carbs, eat 3 times a day.

Exercise, exercise, exercise. If you have type 2, you fucked your health up, now fix it.

I had a friend with diabetes. He took his medication a lot less than he should and with that method managed to lose all his overweight. I'm sure there's a manual on-line somewhere. According to him there's lots of diabetics who use that method and die, so I don't think it should be recommended, but works if you're desperate. The more you know.

I have that on the wall at my desk at the clinic. My supervising doc thought it was hilarious. All in all if you are still young then mostly likely you have enough pancreatic function to control it with diet and exercise. However, if you don't then still diet & exercise and take your metformin (it will help you drop a few lbs btw).

My 10 year old stepson has type 1, and it can be really hard sometimes. You have to watch everything and anything you eat, and make sure you know the amount of carbs it has. Make healthier choices when it comes to eating, things like grab a bag of carrots for a snack instead of those donuts around the office. As stated here, type 2 is easily controlled with simple healthy choices, type 1 is far more of a pain in the ass. Being that my stepson is only 10, he doesn't fully realize the implications of his ailment yet. He knows he has to have insulin and check his blood sugar often, but he still doesn't get that he has to be careful what he eats. Alot of times this leads to him being really high blood sugar, because he'll just run and grab something from the fridge or eat stuff when out with his friend without me or mom knowing. This leads to extra insulin and him being high blood sugar sometimes. Keeping bloodsugar numbers on target for a 10 year old can be hard as fuck. Ill be happy when he's a few years older and can start managing it himself alot more.

Honestly, I don't know. Just eat foods that are healthy for you. Cereals, fruits, and drink lots of water, juice and tea as well.
