I'm unsure what you mean "light conservative" but it leads me to suspect you don't get what conservatism is. People are already unsatisfied with the Democratic leadership and they're showing it. The Republican party, right now, has been stripped to it's core constituency of that 40% (not so coincidently their exact numbers in the Senate). As disillusionment with the Democrats grows those people have no where to go but back to the Republican party.

It's happened over and over and over again and it's going to happen once more. It's this sort of self congratulatory circle jerk and subsequent overstretch that Democrats have been displaying for the past year that precedes an electoral shift. Remember Rove's "permanent Republican majority"?

For fuck's sake, just because Independents are claiming to be more Conservative in their views means nothing, look at the Democratic Party affiliated people. 64% (if adding those numbers properly) are either conservative or moderate (which may as well be conservative since both the Democratic and Republican Parties are RIGHT leaning parties in the global sense of the Right Wing and Left Wing happens to be.)

I would like to know how they determined who is or what is a Conservative view.

Geo-Politically, the majority of Democratic Party members (Myself included) are considered to be conservative on the political spectrum, even while we may hold some moderate to mildly left leaning viewpoints on given topics.

Did they ask responses to particular questions and grade where someone sits on the Liberal/Conservative scale via that method or did they just say, "Are you a Conservative, Moderate or Liberal?"

Simply stating that water happens to be wet in no way implies that the Far Right Wing Republican Party and all its crazy Far Right Conservatives will suddenly leap into power.

I will never vote for the current Republican Party.

Yet there are websites that I used to post to where I was called a Hardcore Right Wing Republican Fucktard, because my views are significantly more moderate to mildly conservative, on certain topics.

I just got back from taking a walk to my local convenience store, where two white males were talking about the recent mass killings in the Philippines.
In the neighborhood where I live republicans out number other political parties so, this was a great time to entertain myself.
Not only did these gentleman just buy a few packs of cigarettes from the Indian who runs the place but, they have the ignorance to complain that these "minorities" are taking over. Considering there is a white owned and operated Wawa less than a mile from this store.

Anyway, I was just listening at first when one of them says something along the lines of "This is what happens when you let Obama run things!"

Most people just smirked and walked by but, I started laughing and shaking my head.
Obviously being such stand out in the crowd of complacency, they were quick to ask why I found it funny. To which I replied to this gentlemen,
"How does being the President of the United States have anything to do with radical political parties in Asia?"
To which I got the response, "Obama has been doing the same since he got into office!"

I replied "Have any proof?"

Obviously since they have none, they got agitated over my willingness to question them so, I laughed some more and walked home.

(For those who care, which I doubt any do, I put quotations around minorities due to the fact that white people are the minority of the world.)

Not all Obama supporters are that stupid. I liked him then and I like him now, I think he's doing a great job and so far I'd vote for him again. I got just what I expected with only a few bumps along the way like that silliness with the tire tariffs.
