Heh, this kind of amused me because of how Microsoft integrated IE into the Windows Explorer shell, effectively making the Windows UI a web browser as early as IE4+Win95.

And Konqueror has been doing this in Linux distros, too.

So seeing Google's Chrome browser as the "OS" is actually more of the same, just repackaged to look like a browser instead of nested folders.

I just don't see the point. Cloud computing is still way too early in its infancy to warrant an OS developed around it.

I'm looking forward to it. Google's got some good products in desperate need of proper integration. But it really (near as I can tell) depends on Wave actually working as well as they think it will. Once that is in place and their application space stops looking like a collection of disparate fiefdoms the "OS" could really take off as a credible replacement for the 80% crowd. (Frankly much of the remaining 20% would be well served too.)

But then most people are still buying MS Office because they think they need it when Wordpad is probably overkill and they haven't seen a spreadsheet in years.
